Getting used to myself
On touch, the male body and closeness without automatic labels.
“I am getting used to being a human, not only a man.” The series plays with images of male hands and the body to ask why closeness between men — walking hand in hand, sitting on a friend’s lap, simply touching — so quickly becomes suspicious.
The accompanying text questions how we look at bodies: as vehicles for our ambitions, as idealised advertising, or as ourselves. “I play with motifs because I hope ambiguity lives in them.” The photographs focus on the body in general, not as a sexual object.
